Euro-VO Research Initiative
The EURO-VO project is soliciting proposals from teams aiming at carrying out astronomical projects driven by the Virtual Observatory concept, and making use of the Virtual Observatory tools and applications. The successful groups will receive support from EURO-VO astronomers to complete their projects by December 2007.

    Faulty DVDs
    Several DVDs distributed between mid-September and 9 November 2005 were created using DVD blanks which were found to be faulty. For more details, including the description of the way to identify the suspect DVDs, please follow this link; this page also contains a link to the form with which the users can request replacement DVDs.

    MASCOT data available
    The data from the Mini All-Sky Cloud Observation Tool (MASCOT) on Paranal - a small CCD camera behind a fish-eye objective, which takes all-sky exposures every few minutes - are now available from the ESO Archive. They can be accessed through the VLT generic query form.

    UKIRT Infrared Deep Sky Survey data available
    Following the agreement between ESO and the United Kingdom, the data from the UKIRT Infrared Deep Sky Survey (UKIDSS) taken with the Wide Field Infrared Camera (WFCAM) are available to the astronomers from the ESO Member States. They can be accessed through the VLT generic query form.

    ESO Archive worldwide
    Following the decision of the ESO Council, we are pleased to announce that access to ESO Archive is now open. Data that are not subject to proprietary restrictions can be requested by users worldwide. Please visit the new ESO Archive Interface, intended to aid astronomers with no previous experience with ESO instruments with general queries. The familiar general and instrument-specific observations and Observation Schedule query forms remain available.

    Abstracts of ESO proposals publicly available
    Starting Oct 3, 2004 and following a decision from the Science and Technology Committee, we are pleased to announce that the abstracts of ESO proposals will be made publicly available once the proprietary period of the associated data is over. Access is enabled through the regular ESO Observation Schedule interface.

    End of support of tapes media
    Starting April 1st, 2004 (ESO Period 73), tapes will no longer be supported as archive data distribution media. USB disks will be used for large requests. Read more about this topic.
