The FITS Translation Utility (for short FTU), is a tool used to manipulate the headers of FITS files.

Data Products Checking Tool: DPCT

The purpose of the Data Products Checking Tool (DPCT) is to check the consistency of a number of data products (DPs) used and produced in connection with ESO's activities in Chile and in Europe.

Portable Stand-Alone FITS Tools: SAFT

Various tools to inspect and manipulate FITS files are available for download. These tools are highly portable across computer platforms and conform to the ANSI-C standard.

Among the tools, hierarch38 will convert HIERARCH ESO header keywords to basic FITS keywords.
hierarch38 can be used to make ESO headers understood by IRAF.
